Last month, West Flagler Associates (WFA) filed a supplemental brief with the U.S. Supreme Court in its bid to challenge the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s monopoly on mobile sports betting in the state. West Flagler submitted the request after the Florida Supreme Court denied a separate petition from the parimutuel to challenge the Seminoles’ gaming compact with the state.
After WFA submitted the brief, the nation’s highest court granted the U.S. Department of Interior a month-long extension to file a response. The Interior Department initially had until April 12 to formally respond to the Supreme Court. The deadline expires on Monday. The Supreme Court may rule as early as next month on whether it will hear the case.
The Carolina Hurricane staved off elimination in the NHL playoffs with a 4-3 win on Saturday over the Rangers. The Rangers, the top seed in the Metropolitan Division, can still advance to the Eastern Conference Finals with a win on Monday. At DraftKings, the Rangers (+400) are the third choice to win the Stanley Cup.
