West Virginia vs. TCU Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 1-31-2023

West Virginia will try to sweep the season series with No. 15 TCU when the Big 12 foes square off on Tuesday night. The Mountaineers have won three of their last four games since losing their first five conference games. TCU is coming off an overtime loss at Mississippi State, so it is hoping to get back on track.

West Virginia got off to an excellent start this season, winning 10 of its first 12 games. The Mountaineers lost to Purdue and Florida during that stretch, but they had wins over Pittsburgh and Buffalo as well. They were unable to bring their non-conference momentum into Big 12 play, losing their first five conference games. West Virginia was able to pick up its first conference win against TCU two weeks ago before losing a close game against Texas. It bounced back with wins over Texas Tech and then-No. 15 Auburn. The Mountaineers have gone just 2-14 in their last 16 road games, though.

They have been an excellent offensive team this season, ranked No. 22 in KenPom’s adjusted efficiency ratings. Their strength has been on the offensive glass, sitting at No. 28 nationally in offensive rebounding percentage. They have dealt with some turnover issues, which could be an issue against a TCU defense that is No. 15 in turnover rate. The Horned Frogs are inside the top 25 nationally in defensive field goal percentage and turnover rate. Senior guard Erik Stevenson leads West Virginia with 13.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. Tre Mitchell (12.2), Joe Toussaint (10.5) and Kedrian Johnson (10.2) are all scoring in double figures as well.
