West Virginia at Pittsburgh 9/1/22 – College Football Picks & Predictions

A regional rivalry will take place on Thursday night, when the West Virginia Mountaineers invade Acrisure Stadium to take on the 17th ranked Pittsburgh Pirates. Fourth year head coach is a game below .500 since taking the job and needs to get the offense going in 2022. The Mountaineers (6-7) landed veteran QB J.T. Daniels through the transfer portal and he will be reunited with former USC OC Graham Harrell.

West Virginia has been better in recent years on the defensive side of the ball and allowed just 350 yards of total offense per game a season ago. Senior DL Dante Still has recorded 19 sacks and 43.5 tackles for loss during his time in Morgantown.

The Pittsburgh Panthers are fresh off an 11-win season for head coach Pat Narduzzi and defeated Wake Forest 45-21 in the ACC Conference Championship Game. The Panthers will be in transition on offense after losing QB Kenny Pickett to the NFL and WR Jordan Addison to USC. Pittsburgh returns all five offensive lineman and will turn to USC transfer QB Kedon Slovis to give things moving.

The Panthers live in the opponents' backfield thanks to a defensive line that features Habakkuk Baldonado (9 sacks) and Calijah Kancey (7 sacks). The secondary needs to improve for Pittsburgh to defend their conference championship.
