Washington State at Arizona State – 1/5/23 College Basketball Picks and Prediction

The Washington State Cougars will head down to Tempe to meet the Arizona State Sun Devils in Pac-12 action from the Desert Financial Arena on the P12N. Wazzu and ASU split the matchups last year, and Arizona State leads the all-time series 46-41.

Washington State moved to 6-9 after defeating USC at home. The Cougars stepped up big time to avoid a four-game skid by pouncing on the Trojans early, and coming away with the ten-point victory. WSU is scoring 69.3 points per game, while allowing 65.7 ppg, and shooting 44.1% from the field.

Wazzu stopped the bleeding and kicked off the new year with a much-needed win last time out, but this two-game trip to Arizona could get a little tricky. The Cougars are powered by the inside-out pairing of TJ Bamba and Mouhamed Gueye. Bamba, a third-year guard, has scored 19 points or more in four of the last six games, and he leads the Cougs in scoring (15.9). Gueye, a 6’11 sophomore, posted big double-doubles against UCLA & Utah State, and he leads the team in boards at 8.6 rpg, while scoring 13.7 ppg. Transfer guards Jabe Mullins (St. Mary’s) and Justin Powell (Tennessee) both average double figures and hit four threes against USC.
