The Chicago Cubs (44-65) will host the Washington Nationals (37-75) on Wednesday in the final game of a three-game series. The Cubs took Monday's game 6-3, and the Nationals bounced back to win on August 9. Both of these clubs are rebuilding and playing to develop the future.
The Washington National were a part of one of the biggest deadline deals in baseball history, shipping away Juan Soto and Josh Bell to the Padres. Amongst the Washington players left on the island are Nelson Cruz (8 HR, 52 RBI), Victor Robles (13 SB), and Lane Thomas (10 HR 36 RBI).

With 37 wins, Washington has the worst record in baseball, and Tuesday's victory snapped a six-game losing streak. The Nationals hit three home runs, with two coming from catcher Keibert Ruiz. Ruiz also drove in four runs for the game, increasing his season totals to six home runs and 29 RBI in 88 games.
Starting for the Nats on Wednesday is Josiah Gray who is 7-8 with a 4.92 ERA. Gray has been a much better pitcher on the road, where he is 5-1 with a 3.25 ERA in 10 starts. On the road, Washington is 19-35, and 23rd in road Moneyline profit at -$415.
