Washington Commanders vs. Indianapolis Colts Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-30-2022

Washington will try to extend its two-game winning streak when it travels to Indianapolis on Sunday afternoon. The Commanders were on a four-game losing skid earlier this month, but they have revived their season with wins over Chicago and Green Bay. Indianapolis had its two-game winning streak snapped in a 19-10 loss to rival Tennessee last week.

Washington was hoping to make major improvements in the offseason when it added quarterback Carson Wentz, but that move did not pay dividends. He struggled in almost every game, resulting in a four-game losing streak following a season-opening win over Jacksonville. Washington was able to get back on track with a 12-7 win at Chicago in an ugly contest, but Wentz threw for just 99 yards in that game. He was placed on injured reserve last week with a fractured ring finger, opening the door for backup quarterback Taylor Heinicke, who led the team to a 23-21 upset against Green Bay.

Heinicke completed 20 of 33 passes for 201 yards, two touchdowns and one interception against the Packers. The rushing attack had a solid outing, as Brian Robinson Jr. rushed for 73 yards in the third game of his career, while Antonio Gibson had 59 yards. Wide receiver Terry McLaurin turned five receptions into 73 yards and a touchdown. He leads the team with 27 receptions for 440 yards and two scores, averaging 16.3 yards per catch. Wide receiver Curtis Samuel also plays a huge role in the offense, catching 39 passes for 340 yards and two touchdowns. Tight end Logan Thomas has been out since the beginning of the month due to a calf injury, and he is listed as questionable to play in this game. Washington is ranked No. 13 defensively, allowing 335.9 yards per game.
