Wake Forest at North Carolina – 1/4/23 College Basketball Picks and Prediction

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons will take the 75-minute trip to Chapel Hill and face the North Carolina Tar Heels in ACC play from the Dean Smith Center on the ACC Network. The Wake Forest/North Carolina rivalry dates all the way back to 1910, and has featured many classics along the way. UNC holds a large 163-68 all-time series lead, but Wake Forest won last year’s meeting by 22 points

Wake Forest improved to 10-4 after defeating Virginia Tech on New Year’s Eve. The Demon Deacons outlasted the Hokies in shootout, closing the calendar year on a good note with a two-point victory. Wake is scoring 75.6 points per game, while allowing 71.1 ppg, and shooting 45.7% from the field.

Wake Forest closed the year with two impressive victories, and a road win here over UNC would really wake the ACC up. Tyree Appleby played all 40 minutes versus VT, and scored 24 points to bring his team-leads to 18.2 ppg and 5.4 apg. Second-year guard Cameron Hildereth has been dynamic alongside him in the backcourt, posting a triple-double in win over Hampton, while averaging a nice line of 12.1 ppg, 3.3 apg, and a team-lead 6.6 rpg.
