With four games left heading into Wednesday night, Virginia likely penciled in two definite wins over Boston College on Wednesday and Louisville to close the season at home as the Cavs tried to zero in on an ACC regular season title. On Wednesday night, however, Boston College had other ideas. #6 Virginia had its four-game winning streak come to a close as they dropped a 63-48 decision at Boston College. The Hoos shot just 32% from the field overall and 19% from 3pt range in the loss. Jayden Gardner led Virginia with 16 points but it wasn't enough for a Virginia team that scored a season-low 48 points.

“I just think we got thoroughly outplayed,” Bennett said in the postgame press conference. “Credit to Boston College. They really played hard. They were physical offensively and defensively, how hard they cut, moved, attacked the lane. And defensively, they pressured the ball, they just got after us. And it was just one of those games where you knew you were going to have to work to get open, knock down some tough drives, just be good. And then defensively, you were going to have to make them earn. Whenever we got to certain spots, we made some unsound decisions and we just couldn't absorb it.”

Virginia is now tied atop the ACC with two games left after this game at North Carolina, both at home vs. Clemson and Louisville. On the season, the Hoos are just 12th in the ACC in scoring offense. They are eighth in field goal percentage but a solid third in 3pt offense. Virginia is third in the ACC in fewest turnovers per game. They are first in the ACC in scoring defense and third in opponent's field goal percentage. Virginia is eighth in 3pt defense and just 13th in total rebounding.
