After an uncharacteristically mediocre year last season, Virginia head coach Tony Bennett and his squad are playing beautiful music yet again. Virginia briefly held the #2 spot in the rankings before dropping a 69-61 decision to previously #1 Houston on Saturday. Houston jumped out to a four-point lead at halftime after starting the game down 9-0. The loss snapped an eight-game winning streak to start the season for Virginia. Kadin Shedrick led UVA with 16 points while drilling 7-of-8 shots from the field. Jayden Gardner chipped in with 13 points and Armaan Franklin rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points. Virginia only was able to hit 2-of-9 from long range against the terrific Houston defense.

“I think they're physically tough and mentally tough. We talk a lot about games like this, and really at this level, that's just the entry level of playing hard, with your heart trying to be physical but th e separator is, are you going to be as rock solid. We got some open looks ,missed some shots, but they're going to make your work and you have to take care of the ball.” Bennett said after the game.

Bennett has once again put together one of the nation's best defenses and most deliberate offenses. The Cavaliers have the nation's 27th ranked defense in efficiency and have the 11th ranked defense in efficiency. They are holding teams to the nation's 14th ranked points per game this season thus far. Virginia is sixth in turnovers per game as they will rarely beat themselves. Lastly, the Cavs are 39th in the country in 3pt field goal percentage.
