Virginia Tech will go on the road for the first time this month when it travels to Notre Dame on Saturday afternoon. The Hokies have lost two of their last three games, including an 82-76 setback against Boston College on Wednesday. Notre Dame has dropped six of its last seven games, falling to Georgia Tech in its latest setback.
Virginia Tech got off to a fantastic start this season, winning 11 of its first 12 games. The Hokies opened the conference portion of their schedule with an 80-72 win against then-No. 18 North Carolina. They lost seven straight ACC games after that before finally getting back on track with a win against Duke at the end of last month. Virginia Tech has split its four games since then, beating Syracuse and then-No. 6 Virginia while losing to then-No. 23 Miami and Boston College. The Hokies have been at home for four of their last five games, but they are now on the road for their next two.

They have relied on their offense to win games this season, ranked No. 32 in KenPom’s adjusted efficiency ratings. Virginia Tech is No. 32 in effective field goal percentage (54.0) and No. 13 in turnover rate. Its weakness has been on the offensive glass, ranked No. 266 in that category. The Hokies are facing a Notre Dame defense that is No. 294 in field goal percentage and No. 358 in turnover rate, but the Fighting Irish are No. 45 in rebounding. Sophomore guard Sean Pedulla leads Virginia Tech with 15.8 points, 3.9 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game. The Hokies have an extremely balanced lineup, as Grant Basile (15.6), Justyn Mutts (13.0) and Hunter Cattoor (10.8) are each scoring in double figures as well.
