Miami was beaten 71-68 on the road by Pitt Saturday afternoon, losing outright as a 1.5-point favorite in their previous game. In the all-time series between the programs, the Hurricanes own a 25-20 advantage but it was the Hokies taking a 71-70 road win in the most recent meeting on February 26, 2022.

Virginia Tech avenged a road loss to Syracuse by squeezing the Orange at home Saturday for their second straight win after a seven-game skid. The Hokies improved to 13-8 overall and stand 12th in the conference with a 3-7 mark in conference play. Against Syracuse, Virginia Tech used a 9-0 run to take an 18-10 lead seven minutes into the game and was off and running. The Hokies led 52-33 at the half and never let the lead drop below 14 the rest of the way en route to the win. Virginia Tech shot 53.3% from the field, including 13 of 32 from three-point range, and won the rebounding battle 37-26. Grant Basile led the Hokies with 25 points, eight rebounds and five assists in the win.

The Hokies are above average on the offensive end of the floor this season as they are 146th in the nation in scoring offense as they put up 73.4 points per game on the season. Virginia Tech pulls down an average of 35.3 boards per contest a night while ranking 54th by dishing out 15.2 assists a game on the year.
