It has been a rough year for the Hokies of Virginia Tech. The usually bowl-bound Hokies are in the midst of a 7-game losing streak after falling to Duke on Saturday, 24-7. Virginia Tech took a lead early on with a 53-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Grant Wells to wide receiver Da'Wain Lofton. It was the second longest touchdown pass of the season for the Hokies and would also be the only points they would score on the day. Wells finished with 177 yards passing. Virginia Tech finished with jut 281 total yards of offense while coughing up 427 to the Blue Devils. The Hokies were jut 4-of-12 on third down while the Blue Devils were a much more efficient 6-of-12. Duke dominated time of possession: 38:59 to 21:01.

It has been a difficult week leading up to the game for the Hokies with the school shootings at rival Virginia. The team has shown support for their long-time rivals and, with Virginia's game already canceled this week, it will be interesting to see what happens next week for their matchup with the Cavaliers. With that said, the Hokies will try to find the motivation to break a 7-game losing streak this week. Offensively, VT is just 118th in the nation in scoring thus far. They are 115th in rushing and 105th in passing as the team has had a very difficult year trying to generate points. The Hokies have the 62nd ranked scoring defense which isn't good enough with the team's inability to score. They are 61st against the run and 85th against the pass. With all their struggles to put up points, it doesn't help that the Hokies are ranked just 119th in the nation in turnover differential.
