A pair of ACC teams do battle in search of a victory in conference play as they collide down in the Sunshine State. The Virginia Tech Hokies are on the road as they make the trip down the east coast to take on the Florida State Seminoles Saturday evening. Virginia Tech was clobbered 86-63 by Wake Forest on the road in their previous contest last Saturday, failing to cover the line as a four-point underdog. Florida State earned an 82-71 victory over Georgia Tech at home in their previous contest, covering the line as a 4.5-point favorite. In the all-time series between the teams, the Seminoles own a 36-24 advantage but the Hokies have won the last two meetings, including an 82-60 home win in the most recent matchup on March 4, 2023.

Virginia Tech saw their four-game winning streak halted as they were trampled by Wake Forest on the road in their previous contest. The Hokies fell to 9-4 on the season overall and stand 1-1 in ACC play after that blowout defeat as they try to regroup on the road here. Against Wake Forest, Virginia Tech was run out of the building in the opening half as they trailed 44-24 at intermission. The Hokies never got closer than that in the second half as they were down as many as 27 en route to the loss. Virginia Tech shot 46.2% from the field, including five of 16 from three-point range, and lost the rebounding battle 37-32 while turning the ball over 19 times in the contest. Hunter Cattoor and Lynn Kidd each had 14 points to lead the Hokies in the loss.

The Hokies are average on the offensive end of the floor this season as they are 217th in the nation in scoring offense as they put up 73.4 po ints per game on the season. Virginia Tech pulls down an average of 34.5 boards per contest a night while ranking 76th by dishing out 15.6 assists a game on the year. The Hokies are an above average defensive team as they stand 77th in the nation in scoring defense by allowing 66.1 points per game. Lynn Kidd leads the team with 16.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game this season. Sean Pedulla (12.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, four assists) and Hunter Cattoor (14.1 points) are good secondary scoring options. Tyler Nickel (10.4 points), Mylyjeal Poteat, Mekhi Long, Robbie Beran, Brandon Rechsteiner and MJ Collins are some of the key role players for coach Mike Young this season. Virginia Tech shoots 45% from the field as a team on the year. The Hokies splash an average of 7.3 triples a night while shooting 33.5% from beyond the arc. Virginia Tech is above average at the free throw line as they knock down a sparkling 78.9% of their attempts at the stripe this season, whic h is seventh in the nation.
