The Villanova Wildcats will head up to Hartford face the Connecticut Huskies for some Big East basketball from the XL Center this Wednesday on FS1. UConn and Villanova have faced off 70 times, with the Wildcats holding a 38-32 series-lead after winning six of the last seven games.
Villanova improved to 7-5 after defeating St. John’s in Philly. The Wildcats boasted their big brother status and open Big East play with a wire-to-wire victory over the Red Storm. Villanova is scoring 71.6 points per game, while allowing 67.1 ppg and shooting 43.9% from the field.
Eric Dixon has taken the reign this season offensively, and delivered during this five-game winning streak. The junior forward double-doubled in the Holy War victory over St. Joe’s, and scored a game-high 18 points in the win over St. John’s. Dixon leads Nova in scoring (16.1) and rebounding (6.1). Chase Daniels scored 22 points in the win over Oklahoma, and he averages 15.7 ppg, while leading the team with 3.5 apg. Fifth-year senior Brandon Slater (11.8 ppg, 5.5 rpg) led the team with 19 points against the Hawks, while freshman Cam Whitemore is coming alive alongside him, combining for 40 points in wins over Penn and BC.
