Villanova vs. Liberty Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 3-14-2023

The Villanova Wildcats (16-15, 13-18 ATS, 15-16 O/U) collide with the Liberty Flames (24-7, 17-11 ATS, 13-14 O/U) in the first round of the NIT Tournament on Tuesday evening. The Wildcats went 16-15 on the season including a 10-10 mark in Big East action. The Flames recorded a 24-7 record and went 15-3 in conference play. 

The Villanova Wildcats enter the NIT Tournament with a chip on their shoulder. They had a poor season for their standards but have a good chance in the NIT. The Wildcats looked good late in the season, posting a 6-2 record in their last eight regular season games. They beat Georgetown in the opening round of the Big East Tournament but were marked 4.5 point dogs in a rough 87-74 loss to Creighton in the second round. The Wildcats have covered in one of their last three road games.

Eric Dixon scored 20 points in the loss to Creighton and has reached the 20 points mark eight times this season. The junior forward is sporting an average of 15.5 PPG on 50% shooting on the season. Caleb Daniels has only scored double-digits in one of his last six games. The senior guard is averaging 14.5 PPG and 4.5 RPG. Justin Moore was solid late in the season, netting at least 13 points in four consecutive bouts. The senior guard missed a good portion of the season due to injury and has posted an average of 13.5 PPG.

The Wildcats are ranked 60th in DI in Ken Pomeroy’s ratings and went 5-8 on the road this season. Villanova has scored at least 74 points in four of their last five games and is averaging 69.5 points on the season, marking them 233rd. They are conceding an average of 67.9 points, placing them 119th in the country.
