Villanova vs. Creighton Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 2-4-2023

The Villanova Wildcats are on the road as they make the trip east to take on the Creighton Bluejays Saturday night. Villanova was beaten 73-64 on the road by #14 Marquette in their previous game, failing to cover the line as a six-point underdog Wednesday night. Creighton took down Georgetown 63-53 on the road in their previous game Wednesday night though they failed to cover as a 13-point favorite. In the all-time series between the teams, the Wildcats own a 17-6 edge between the teams and have taken the last two meetings. That includes a 54-48 win in the Big East Tournament title game on March 12, 2022.

Villanova saw their struggles continue as they dropped their second straight and their fifth in the last seven games as they were dumped by Marquette on the road. The Wildcats fell to 10-12 overall and stand seventh in the Big East with a 4-7 conference mark on the year. Against Marquette, Villanova led 6-0 out of the gate and still held a one-point advantage at the half. The Wildcats led by five early in the second half and still held a 62-61 lead with 4:49 remaining before things fell apart. Villanova was outscored 12-2 the rest of the way to wind up with the loss. The Wildcats shot 47.7% from the field, including 11 of 27 from beyond the arc, but turned the ball over 19 times in the loss. Eric Dixon and Caleb Daniels each had 14 points to lead Villanova in the loss.

The Wildcats are an average offensive unit as they are averaging 70.7 points per game so far this season, putting them 198th in the nation in scoring offense. Villanova is collecting an average of 31.7 rebounds a game while dishing out 11.3 assists per contest on the year. The Wildcats are a slightly above average team on the defensive end of the floor, holding opposing teams to 68.4 points a contest, leaving them 162nd in the nation in scoring defense so far this season. Caleb Daniels is one of four players averaging in double figures for Villanova and leads the team with 16.2 points plus 4.5 rebounds per contest this season.
