The Villanova Wildcats are on the road as they make the trip to take on the Butler Bulldogs Saturday afternoon. Villanova was on the road Wednesday night as they took on St. John’s, getting drubbed 70-50 and failing to cover the line as a 3.5-point underdog. Butler comes in off a 90-66 road romp over Georgetown in their previous game Tuesday night, easily covering the line as a 3.5-point favorite. In the all-time series between the teams, the Wildcats own a 16-6 advantage, including a 62-50 home victory in the most recent matchup on February 14, 2023.

Villanova was in action against St. John’s Wednesday night in their previous contest, suffering their third straight loss and their fourth in the last five games. The Wildcats dropped to 11-8 overall and stand 4-4 in the Big East, leaving them tied for sixth in the conference. Against St. John’s, Villanova was within two before giving up a 15-2 run in the first half that left them down 28-13 with 6:42 to play before intermission. The Wildcats were down 10 at the half and never got closer than five in the second half as they struggled offensively en route to the loss. Villanova shot 37.5% from the floor, including a dismal four of 25 showing from the perimeter, and was dominated 42-23 on the glass. Eric Dixon led the Wildcats with 16 points and eight rebounds in the loss.

The Wildcats are a below average offensive unit as they are averaging 72.5 points per game so far this season, putting them 241st in the nation in scoring offense. Villanova is collecting an average of 36.2 rebounds a game while dishing out 11.8 assists per contest on the year.
