Villanova at Saint Joseph's – 12/17/22 College Basketball Picks and Prediction

The Villanova Wildcats and St. Joseph’s Hawks face off on Saturday in a college basketball showdown at Hagan Arena. When these two teams faced off in 2021 it was Villanova that secured the 81-52 victory. 

Villanova comes into this game with a 5-5 record and they have gone 3-7 against the spread so far this season. In the last game against Boston College the defense gave up only 56 points, and that led to the 21-point victory. Two games ago against Penn they were able to secure a 70-59 victory. Villanova is averaging 71 points while their defense is giving up 67.8 points per game. After a bit of a slow start to the season, it looks like they might be turning the corner. Guard Caleb Daniels has been the top player for Villanova averaging 16.8 points while shooting 44.5 percent from the field and 37.9 percent from behind the three-point line. 

On the other side of this matchup is Saint Joseph’s who sits with a 4-5 record and they have gone 3-6 against the spread. In the last game against Saint Peter’s the defense gave up only 57 points and that led to the 16 point victory. Saint Joseph’s is averaging 70 points while their defense is giving up 73.8 points per game. Two games ago against Temple they were defeated 70-60. Erik Reynolds II has been the top player for Saint Joseph’s averaging 19 points while shooting 44.3 percent from the field and 41.3 percent from behind the three point line.
