Villanova at Georgetown – 1/4/23 College Basketball Picks and Prediction

The Villanova Wildcats will travel to DC and face the Georgetown Hoyas in Big East action from the Capital One Arena. Georgetown and Villanova have faced off in every season since 1950, and the Wildcats hold a slim 42-41 series after winning last year’s meeting.

Villanova dropped to 7-7 after losing to Marquette at home. The Wildcats failed to hold off the Golden Eagles the second half, and took a two-point loss. Villanova is scoring 71.6 points per game, while allowing 67.1 ppg and shooting 43.9% from the field.

Villanova has been hit by reality with their last two conference losses. It’s going to be a long year in Philly, and a return to the Big Dance feels like a lofty expectation at the moment. Caleb Daniels is thriving in a bigger role this season, and after scoring a game-high 23 points versus UConn, he leads Nova in scoring (16.1) and assists (3.4), while grabbing 5.1 rpg. Eric Dixon has also taken on a bigger role, and he’s posting an identical 16.0 ppg and a team-lead 6.3 rpg. Fifth-year senior Brandon Slater (11.4 ppg, 5.5 rpg) led the team with 19 points against the Hawks, while freshman Cam Whitemore has come alive alongside him, combining for 40 points in wins over Penn and BC.
