Venezuela vs. Canada Predictions Copa America 2024 Quarterfinals – July 5
Venezuela vs. Canada Predictions Copa America 2024 Quarterfinals – July 5iv class=”bodyContent col-lg-9 mb-3″>

Canadians rejoice. Not only has the national team qualified for the quarterfinals in their debut Copa America, but they've drawn Venezuela, one of the weakest of the other seven remaining participants.

Our Venezuela vs. Canada prediction details what to expect while leaning toward a touch-and-go encounter, with Jesse Marsch's side pushing the South Americans to their limit.

Canada became the second team to reach the final eight after scoring just one goal in the group stage, another milestone, albeit a slightly less enviable one. Friday's quarterfinal occurs at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, with kick-off set for 9 p.m. ET (Fox Sports).

Canada, the underdogs across our best soccer betting sites, have the second-longest Copa America odds to win the competition, while Venezuela are in the bottom half.

Both sides were helped significantly by the opposition's indiscipline in the group stage, with Canada playing against 10 men for the lion's share of their last two matches and Venezuela facing 10 for most of their opener against Ecuador.

Canada are without Tajon Buchanan, who broke his tibia in training on Monday.

Venezuela vs. Canada score prediction

Canada and Venezuela don't have much of a head-to-head history. They've played just two friendlies against each other, never battling in a competitive contest. Canada matches up quite well against Venezuela despite their obvious lack of experience at Copa America.

Marsch's team have found it challenging to muster offense, scoring their only goal against a 10-man Peru. However, Canada are confident and playing with nothing to lose, a potentially dangerous combination for Venezuela. Venezuela beat up on Jamaica (3-0) and narrowly escaped against Mexico (1-0), a side Canada haven't lost to in their previous two encounters.

It sets up what should be a scrappy and tight match, with Canada leaving it all on the pitch. While Venezuela will probably advance, I'm backing the Canadians to push the match to penalties. There is no extra time in the Copa America knockout stage.

The +475 odds at Betway will pay a profit of $47.50 if the match is tied 1-1 after 90 minutes.

Venezuela vs. Canada anytime goal scorer prediction

Salomon Rondon is a Venezuelan legend. He has 43 goals in 108 caps for his country and is as reliable as a German automobile. Rondon has 18 goals in 60 World Cup and Copa America matches, scoring a goal in each of the last two group matches against Jamaica and Mexico.

Rondon also takes Venezuela's penalties, increasing the likelihood of scoring in a third successive match. He has the experience advantage against the Canadian center-backs and will likely do whatever it takes to gain the slightest of edges. He's also stronger and more bullish than a bighorn sheep on steroids.

The +150 odds will pay a profit of $15 if Rondon hits the back of the net.

Best odds: +150 via Betway | Implied probability: 40.00%

Venezuela vs. Canada best bet

Venezuela are unbeaten in eight competitive matches after winning all three group games. However, their opening-day win was aided by an early Ecuador red card, and the contest against Mexico was decided by a Rondon penalty.

The South American side are fourth in the CONMEBOL World Cup qualification standings, having lost just one of six matches. But three contests were draws against Brazil, Peru, and Ecuador, providing hope for Canada.

Marsch ensures his side is organized, disciplined, and challenging to penetrate. They have conceded just two goals in their last four matches, keeping clean sheets in the previous two. Yes, they were aided by Peru and Chile red cards, but they got the job done nonetheless.

Look for Canada to play their best game yet under Marsch, pushing Venezuela to the limit. I expect Venezuela to advance, but it might take penalties to get across the line.
