The Vegas Golden Knights are on the road as they make the trip to take on the Anaheim Ducks Wednesday night. Vegas was dropped 4-2 on the road by Florida in their previous contest Saturday afternoon. Anaheim fell 3-2 at home in their previous game on Saturday night. In the last 10 meetings between the teams, the Golden Knights own a 7-2-1 advantage though it was the Ducks earning a 4-2 victory at home in the most recent meeting between the teams back on November 5.

Vegas suffered their third straight loss and their fourth in the last five games as they were knocked off by Florida on the road Saturday. The Golden Knights entered Wednesday two points behind the Canucks for the top spot in the Pacific Division with a 21-9-5 record. Vegas entered Wednesday’s action 11th in the league in goals for as they average 3.37 goals per contest on the season. The Golden Knights are 7th in the league in goals against as they give up an average of 2.71 goals per game this season. Vegas is 12th in power play success as they cash in on 22.5% of their opportunities with the man advantage. The Golden Knights are 13th in the league in penalty killing in the early going as have successfully navigated through 81% of their shorthanded situations on the season.
Against Florida, Vegas struggled offensively once again and it proved to b e their undoing in their final game before the holiday break. The Golden Knights were hammered 20-3 in shots on goal in the opening period but were fortunate to skate off with the game scoreless after 20 minutes of play. In the second period, Vegas was outshot 14-13 with each team scoring twice, keeping the game even at the second intermission. Mark Stone opened the scoring with his 11th goal of the season at 1:21 of the period off an assist from Ivan Barbashev. After giving up two unanswered goals to trail 2-1, Pavel Dorofeyev knotted the game with his third goal of the year at 19:37 off assists from Ben Hutton and Keegan Kolesar. The third period saw Vegas with a 9-8 edge in shots but they were outscored 2-0 to wind up with the loss. Jiri Patera made 38 saves for the Golden Knights, who were outshot 42-25, in the loss. He likely gets the start in goal once again here.
