VCU vs. George Washington Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 3-4-2023

VCU (23-7 SU, 14-14-2 ATS) travels to Washington D.C. to take on George Washington (16-14 SU, 15-14 ATS) on Saturday afternoon at the Smith Center at 4:30pmET.

The Rams crushed GW 84-57 at home on Jan. 11 as a 17-point favorite. VCU is 14-3 to lead the A-10 and has won the regular season title. The Colonials are 10-7, whichplaces them in a three-way tie for fifth place.

VCU has a 66th NCAA Net Ranking and they are 3-5 against Quad 1 and 2 teams. That might not be enough to get them into the NCAA Tournament as the Atlantic 10 looks like a one-bid league this season. The good news is that the Rams are playing extremely well heading into the A-10 tournament, having won five straight and seven of their last eight. Their lone loss to Dayton (62-58) on Feb. 7 probably took them off the bubble. On Tuesday, they were victorious over Saint Louis 79-67 at home. VCU shot 48% from the field and just 15% (2-of-23) from beyond the arc. They turned the ball over 12 times, but forced 19 Billikens' turnovers. Jalen DeLoach led the Rams with 14 points.

On the season, the Rams are shooting 47.5% from the field to rank third in the A-10 and holding opponents to 41.9% (2nd). They lead the league in turnover margin (4.29) mainly because they force 16.6 turnovers to rank first in the league.  VCU shoots 35.1% from beyond the arc (5th) and holds teams to 32.2% (3rd) from three-point range. Adrian Baldwin Jr. leads VCU with 12.9 points per game on 42.6% shooting (34.7%) and also leads in assists with 5.4 per game. Brandon Johnson Jr., a transfer from Michigan, leads the Rams with 11.7 points per game adding 5.1 rebounds on 51.3% shooting (27.5% 3pt).
