VCU at Davidson – 1/31/23 College Basketball Picks and Prediction

The Davidson Wildcats will host the VCU Rams in Atlantic 10 play from the Belk Arena on the CBSSN. VCU leads the all-time series, 10-7, after winning the latest meeting in Richmond three weeks ago.

Virginia Commonwealth fell to 16-6 after losing to St. Bonaventure. The Rams failed to capitalize on a strong defensive first half, and lost to the Bonnie’s by three points. VCU is scoring 70.9 points per game, while allowing 63.4 ppg, and shooting 46.1% from the field.

VCU had their six-game win streak snapped by SBU, and they’ll look to respond here in Carolina. The Rams are 7-2 in A10 play, so there will be a sense of urgency to avoid a second straight loss here. VCU is defending at a high level per usual, and they’re led by third-year starter Adrian Baldwin Jr. The 6’1 guard scored 19 points in the first win over Davidson, and he’s averaging 12.1 ppg and a team-lead 6.0 apg. Michigan transfer Brandon Johns Jr. scored 22 points against Duquesne, and he leads VCU in scoring (12.2), while grabbing 5.0 rpg. Sophomore forward Jalen Deloach double-doubled against UR last time, and he’s up to 9.3 ppg and a team-leading 7.0 rpg.
