The Vancouver Canucks face the Toronto Maple Leafs with both teams heading in opposite directions to begin the season. The Canucks have a 10-2-1 record and with five wins in a row, they have the second-best record in the Pacific Division. The Maple Leafs have a 6-5-2 record and are near the bottom of the Atlantic Division. The Canucks look to remain one of the teams to beat in the Western Conference while the Maple Leafs look to bounce back in the Eastern Conference and the upcoming game should be a good one.

The Canucks are having a great season with their offense stepping up and scoring 4.54 goals per game with 28 goals in the last five games. Elias Pettersson, J.T. Miller, and Brock Boeser have scored 23 goals and 31 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has been great as well. Andrei Kuzmenko, Sam Lafferty, and Ilya Mikheyev have combined for nine goals and 13 assists while defensemen Quinn Hughes and Filip Hronek have added five goals and 28 assists from the point to put the offense over the top.
The offense has been great but the defense has also been incredible, allowing only 2.00 goals per game including only seven goals in their last five games. Quinn Hughes and Filip Hronek have combined for 2.5 defensive point shares and 23 blocked shots to lead the top pairing while Tyler Myers, Ian Cole, and Carson S oucy have combined for 2.2 defensive point shares to add depth to the unit. In addition, goaltender Thatcher Demko has been great with a .948 save percentage and a 1.61 goals-against average on 270 shots with 11.9 goals saved above average.
