Vancouver Canucks (13-6-1) vs. San Jose Sharks (3-15-1)

The 2023-24 NHL season goes on Saturday, November 25, with the Vancouver Canucks taking on the San Jose Sharks in the Pacific Division battle at SAP Center at San Jose with the puck drop at 10:00 PM ET.

Vancouver meets San Jose for the third time this season. The Canucks have won their previous two encounters with the Sharks, 10-1 and 3-1, and are surefire favorites to extend their streak.

Friday’s games have been excluded from the analysis, and the Vancouver Canucks visited the Seattle Kraken, looking to bounce back from a 5-2 defeat at the Colorado Avalanche. The Canucks have only won one of their previous four games overall, outlasting the Sharks 3-1 as -400 home favorites.

Vancouver played bad defense last Wednesday, allowing the Avalanche to score five goals on 25 shots. The Canucks yielded three unanswered goals in the third period, and it’s fair to say that Thatcher Demko had one of his worst outings in 2023-24.

Demko, who’s 9-5-0 with a 2.26 GAA and a .923 save percentage this season, was projected to guard the cage Friday in Seattle. Casey DeSmith should patrol the crease Saturday in San Jose, and the 32-year-old netminder is 4-1-1 with a 2.89 GAA and a .917 save percentage in 2023-24. The Canucks are fifth in the league in goals against (2.55 per game) and first in goals for (4.00).
