The Vancouver Canucks face the Columbus Blue Jackets with both teams hoping to improve from difficult starts to the season. The Canucks have lost their first two games by a combined score of 8-5. The Blue Jackets meanwhile are 0-3 to start the season despite having an offseason filled with promise. Both teams are looking to improve in their divisions as well as slow starts to the season and the upcoming game should be a good one as a result.

The Canucks are off to a slow start to the season with their offense particularly struggling, scoring only 2.50 goals per game. J.T. Miller and Brock Boeser have scored a goal and three assists to lead the top line but the rest of the offense has struggled. The hope is that Kyle Burroughs and Quinn Hughes can open up the offense as they have combined for a goal and an assist and add a spark from the point.

Along with the offense playing poorly, the defense has also struggled, allowing 4.00 goals per game. Quinn Hughes and Oliver Ekman-Larsson have led the top two pairings but the rest of the defense has struggled, allowing opponents to keep the puck in their zone and generate open shots on the net. Moreover, Thatcher Demko has struggled to start the season with a .873 save percentage and a 3.64 goals-against average on 55 sho ts.
