Vancouver Canucks (6-9-3) vs. Colorado Avalanche (10-5-1)

The 2022-23 NHL betting action continues Wednesday with this Western Conference battle when the Vancouver Canucks travel to take on the Colorado Avalanche at the Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado.

Vancouver is coming off a tough loss to the Vegas Golden Knights on Monday, 5-4. The club is beginning a three-game road trip in Denver. Colorado defeated Dallas in a shootout on Monday, sweeping their three-game road trip. These clubs have not met this year, but Colorado took two of the three games last season.

The Vancouver Canucks (6-10-3, 11-8 ATS) held a two-goal lead with a little less than 14 minutes left in the contest, but the Vegas Golden Knights rallied for three goals to earn a 5-4 victory. The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for the Canucks. Vancouver is 3-6-2 on the road and are beginning a three-game road trip in Colorado.

“That's nothing to do with systems or what the coaches are telling us; that comes down to battle and compete,” Canucks defenseman Luke Schenn said. “We're getting outmuscled and outbattled in front of the net and in the blue paint. Everyone just needs to be better in front of [Demko]. That's where games are won and lost.”

Thatcher Demko stopped 33 shots, but this team is having trouble keeping the puck out of the net, ranked 30th at 3.95 goals allowed per game. The team is getting plenty of offense, seventh overall with 3.47 goals per game average, but with Demko (2-9-2, 3.87, .883) not being able to shut down opponents, this team is struggling to close out games. Quinn Hughes had two assists in the loss, and now has six points over his last five games.
