Vancouver Canucks at Winnipeg Jets – 1/8/23 NHL Picks and Prediction

The Vancouver Canucks and Winnipeg Jets face off on Sunday in an NHL showdown at the MTS Centre. When these two teams faced off on December 29th it was Winnipeg that secured the 4-2 victory. 

The Canucks come into this game with a 17-18-3 record overall and they have gone 9-8-2 away from home. On Thursday against the Colorado Avalanche, the Cancuks scored four goals and that was enough to win by two goals. Two games ago against the New York Islanders they were defeated 6-2. The Canucks are averaging 3.37 goals while their defense is giving up 3.82 goals per game. The defense has been an issue, but the offense is ranked 8th best in the NHL. Elias Peterson has scored 17 goals and added 29 assists. 

On the other side of this matchup is the Jets who sits with a 25-13-1 record overall and they have gone 15-6-0 at home. In the last game against the Tampa Bay Lightning, the defense only gave up two goals and they won by two goals. The Jets are averaging 3.21 goals while their defense is giving up 2.53 goals per game. The defense is second best in the NHL, and they need to lean on the defense again here. Kyle Connor has scored 17 goals and added 29 assists.
