UTSA vs. Army Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-10-2022

UTSA will be looking to bounce back from a triple-overtime loss to then-No. 24 Houston when it travels to Army on Saturday afternoon. The Roadrunners held a 21-7 lead in the third quarter, but Houston came up with the big plays down the stretch. Army is in a rebound spot of its own after coming up short at Coastal Carolina last week.

UTSA was on a 10-game home winning streak prior to blowing its 21-7 lead against Houston last week. The Roadrunners allowed Houston to have control of the ball for 10 minutes in the fourth quarter, using several scoring drives to send the game to overtime. They were playing in front of the fifth-largest crowd in school history, but it was not enough to get them across the finish line. The Roadrunners have a ton of expectations this year after going 12-2 last season, resulting in the first national ranking in school history. Their schedule does not get any easier next week, as they will be taking a trip to Texas.

The Roadrunners are led by senior quarterback Frank Harris, who completed 28 of 43 passes for 337 yards and three touchdowns last week. Harris was also the team’s leading rusher, picking up 63 yards and a touchdown on eight carries. Senior running back Trelon Smith will be looking to bounce back after averaging just 2.6 yards on 13 carries. Senior wide receivers Joshua Cephus and Zakhari Franklin both posted 100-yard receiving days against Houston. The UTSA defense returned just five starters from last season, but they held Houston to just 24 points in regulation last week. They wracked up four sacks and had five additional tackles-for-loss, while forcing Houston quarterback Clayton Tune into a fumble.
