The UTEP Miners will travel to the Ocean Bank Convocation Center on Thursday evening in a Conference USA matchup to take on the Florida International Panthers. These programs played back on Jan. 19 and the Miners were able to pick up an 81-61 home win in their only other meeting this year.
The UTEP Miners have been struggling a bit and are coming off an 80-72 overtime road win against the North Texas Mean Green. They struggled in the overtime period as they were outscored by the Mean Green 17-9. They shot the ball at a decent level from the field as they were 22-of-51 (43.1 percent) overall, 3-of-15 (20 percent) from three, and 32 free-throw attempts. Junior guard Tae Hardy led the team as in 43 minutes he finished with 18 points, five rebounds, one block, and two turnovers. Defensively, they were brutal as they allowed 54.2 percent from the floor and 45.5 percent from deep here. UTEP did extremely well as they finished with six steals and four blocks throughout the game after forcing 17 turnovers.
The UTEP Miners are a strug gling team this season as they are 268th in the nation with 68.3 points per game thus far and shooting 44.7 percent from the floor while averaging 11.6 assists per game. Defensively, they are giving up 67.6 points per game, which is 113th in the country. They have been causing issues with 2.7 blocks and 9.2 steals per game thus far.
