UTEP at Charlotte 10/1/22 College Football Picks and Prediction

The UTEP Miners and Charlotte 49ers face off on Saturday in a Week 5 college football showdown at Jerry Richardson Stadium. In 2020 it was Charlotte that secured the 38-28 victory.

UTEP comes into this game with a 2-3 record overall, but they are coming off quite the win in the last game. UTEP allowed Boise State to only score 10 points, and that was enough to secure the 17-point win. Gavin Hardison is under center for UTEP and in the last game he completed 10 of his 11 passes for 123 yards and a touchdown. Deion Hawkins also had a strong game on the ground finishing with 21 carries and 86 yards. UTEP on the season is averaging 16.6 points while their defense is giving up 25.2 points per game. In this game, the offense is going to need to have a big game.

On the other side of this matchup is the Charlotte 49ers who sit with a 1-4 record overall and in the last game they had another blowout loss. Charlotte allowed South Carolina to score 56 points, and even though the offense managed 20 points, it wasn’t enough as they were defeated. Under center for Charlotte is Chris Reynolds and in the last game, he completed 16 of his 28 passes for 143 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. Charlotte is averaging 24 points while their defense is giving up 47.4 points per game. Their offense isn’t awful, but with how bad the defense has been, it’s not good enough.
