Utah State at Air Force – 1/3/23 College Basketball Picks and Prediction

The Utah State Aggies will head over to Colorado Springs to take on the Air Force Falcons in Mountain West play from the Clune Arena on CBSS. Utah State leads the all-time series 23-7 after sweeping the season series last year.

Utah State improved to 12-2 after taking down Fresno State at home. The Aggies opened conference play on a strong note, outscoring the scrappy Bulldogs and covering the 11-point spread along the way. Utah State is scoring 83.8 points per game, while allowing 70.2 ppg, and shooting 49.4% from the field.

Utah State looks like a contender in the quietly stacked Mountain West Conference this season. Steven Ashworth has hit three treys or more in nine of the last ten games, and he leads the team in scoring (17.1), while dishing out 4.3 apg. The pairing of Taylor Funk and Dan Akin has eased the loss of longtime starter Justin Bean. Akin’s double-doubled in the win over Fresno, and he’s averaging 12.6 ppg and a team-lead 7.1 rpg.. Funk, a St Joe’s transfer, is second on the team in both scoring (13.4) and (6.1). Veteran guards Spencer Bairstow (10.7 ppg, 4.3 rpg) and Max Shulga (12.4 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 4.5 apg) round out the USU lineup.
