Utah Jazz (10-6) vs. Portland Trail Blazers (10-5)
The Utah Jazz head to Moda Center in Portland, Oregon, on Saturday night to face off against the Portland Trail Blazers. These two Northwest Division foes meet for the first time in 2022-23, and the Jazz shoot for their fifth straight victory over the Trail Blazers.
Utah is without Rudy Gay, who’ll miss his third straight game due to a hand injury. On the other side, Portland misses Gary Payton II (abdomen), while Keon Johnson (hip) is doubtful to play.
Friday’s games have been excluded from this preview, and the 10-6 Utah Jazz hosted the Phoenix Suns, hoping to snap their three-game skid. Last Tuesday, Utah suffered a 118-111 home loss to the New York Knicks, playing as a 4-point favorite. The Jazz lost the fourth quarter 35-26 and couldn’t cope with Jalen Brunson, who finished with 25 points and eight assists on the night. Kelly Olynyk led the way for Utah with 27 points and 11 rebounds, while Lauri Markkanen had 13 points and a plus-16 net rating in 30 minutes on the court.
“We’ve just got to keep playing our style of basketball,” Olynyk said. “We got away from it for a second there as a group. But when we are playing well and playing together, doing what we did the first fe w games, we are a good basketball team.”

In his first year with the Jazz, Markkanen is tallying 21.3 points and 8.4 rebounds per game while making 52.3% shooting from the field and 34.7% from beyond the arc. Five more guys are averaging points in double figures including Jordan Clarkson (17.9 PPG, 4.8 APG) and Mike Conley (10.7 PPG, 8.1 APG). The Jazz are scoring 114.9 points per 100 possessions (8th in the NBA) while surrendering 111.4 in a return (9th).
