UNLV vs. San Diego State Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 11-5-2022

UNLV Rebels (4-4) vs. San Diego State Aztecs (4-4)

The 2022 college football season is heating up with Week 10 matchups, and the UNLV Rebels head to Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, California, to face off against the San Diego Aztecs. Both teams sit at 2-2 in the Mountain West Conference West Division, one game behind the top-seeded Fresno State, so their upcoming clash has a lot on the table.

UNLV opens as a 6.5-point road underdog. San Diego State is listed as a -250 moneyline fave, and the totals sit at 47.0 points.

The UNLV Rebels (4-4; 5-3 ATS) enjoyed a bye in Week 9, while sophomore signal-caller Doug Brumfield cleared the concussion protocol and will return from a three-game absence (exited early in Week 6) Saturday against the Aztecs. The Rebels have gone 0-3 straight up and 1-2 ATS with Cameron Friel under center, losing to San Jose State 40-7 as 6.5-road dogs, Air Force 42-7 as 10-point home dogs, and Notre Dame 44-21 as huge 26-point road minnows.

UNLV scored three touchdowns on the ground against the Fighting Irish, but it was a one-way street, as Notre Dame had a 30-7 lead at halftime. Junior RB Courtney Reese led the way for the Rebels with 142 yards on 11 carries, setting up the first two touchdowns with a couple of big plays.

“Blocked punts and turnovers and lack of execution are going to be hard to overcome on the road against a good team. I think our guys understand that,” UNLV head coach Marcus Arroyo said

Brumfield has tossed for 1,331 yards, eight touchdowns, and a couple of picks so far this season while rushing 48 times for 137 yards and five scores. He’s led the Rebels to three straight wins over North Texas 58-27, Utah State 34-24, and New Mexico 31-20. Junior RB Aidan Robbins, who has 591 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on his season tally, missed Week 8 due to a knee injury and is listed as doubtful for Week 10.
