The UC Santa Barbara Gauchos (8-2, 5-3 ATS, 4-4 O/U) battle the Appalachian State Mountaineers  (7-5, 5-4 ATS, 5-4 O/U) in a non-conference bout on Wednesday evening on a neutral court in Phoenix. The Gauchos posted a solid road win against Portland State last week. The Mountaineers defeated non-DI opponent Regent University in their previous action. 

The UC Santa Barbara Gauchos are seeking a fifth consecutive win. They have won six out of their last seven bouts propelled by consistent offensive production. This includes an overtime road win against Pepperdine earlier this month and an 85-73 road win against Portland State on Saturday in a clash that had the Gauchos marked as five-point favorites. They have covered the spread in three straight games.

Ajay Mitchell accumulated a remarkable 25 points in Saturday’s victory. The sophomore guard has posted several big performances including 19 points against Pacific. Mitchell is sporting an average of 14.7 PPG. Miles Norris has connected on at least 50% of his field goals in four out of his last five games. The senior forward has increased his season average to 13.1 PPG accompanied by 6.5 RPG. Andre Kelly has scored double-digits in all but four games this season. The senior forward enters wi th an average of 10 PPG accompanied by 8 RPG.

The Gauchos are ranked 109th in DI in Ken Pomeroy’s college basketball ratings and are considered the favorites in the Big West Conference. They are an even 2-2 on the road.
