AAC foes match up when the UCF Knights (3-1) and the SMU Mustangs (2-2) square off on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at FBC Mortgage Stadium.
In their most recent game, the Knights defeated the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 27-10. The Mustangs are coming off of a loss to the TCU Horned Frogs by the score of 42-34. John Rhys Plumlee had 49 yards on 8-of-16 passing (50.0%) for the Knights in that matchup against the Yellow Jackets, with no touchdowns and one interception. He also added 16 carries for 100 yards and one rushing touchdown. RJ Harvey took 12 carries for 73 yards (6.1 yards per carry). Isaiah Bowser hauled in one reception for 22 yards (averaging 22.0 per catch) against the Yellow Jackets. Tanner Mordecai went 27-for-49 with 372 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions for the Mustangs against the Horned Frogs. Tre Siggers carried the ball 19 times for 60 yards (3.2 yards per attempt) with three touchdowns. In the passing game, he added two catches for eight yards. Jake Bailey caught eight passes for 163 yards (20.4 yards per catch), scoring one touchdown.
The Knights are 3.5-point favorites in their matchup with the Mustangs. The over/under is set at 63 points.
