The UCF Knights (5-1) and the East Carolina Pirates (4-3) play on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Bagwell Field at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium in a battle of AAC foes.
The Knights beat the Temple Owls 70-13 in their most recent outing. The Pirates are coming off of a 47-45 win over the Memphis Tigers. Against the Owls, John Rhys Plumlee led the Knights with 373 yards on 18-of-22 passing (81.8%) for four touchdowns and no interceptions. He also carried the ball seven times for 37 yards and three rushing touchdowns. Thomas Castellanos ran for 88 yards on three carries (29.3 yards per carry) and one touchdown. Kobe Hudson recorded four receptions for 121 yards (averaging 30.3 per catch), while scoring two touchdowns against the Owls. Holton Ahlers threw for 304 yards for the Pirates against the Tigers, going 26-for-34 (76.5%) with one touchdown and no interceptions. He added seven carries for 10 yards and one touchdown. Keaton Mitchell carried the ball 29 times for 149 yards and three touchdowns. He caught four passes for 28 yards. Isaiah Winstead registered 154 yards through the air after nine catches (on 13 targets), with one touchdown.
The Pirates are 5-point underdogs in their matchup with the Knights (the game has an over/under of 65.5 points).
