UC Irvine Anteaters (20-10) vs. UC Riverside Highlanders (20-10)
With two games remaining on the regular-season schedule, three teams are tied for the No. 1 seed in the Big West Conference, including UC Irvine and UC Riverside. These two schools meet Thursday, March 2, at SRC Arena in Riverside, California, with the tip-off at 10:00 PM ET, so let’s take a closer look.
Back in February, UC Irvine trounced UC Riverside 83-64 as a 6.5-point home fave. The Anteaters are small 1.5-point road dogs this time around, while the totals sit at 146.5 points.
The UC Irvine Anteaters (20-10; 14-14 ATS; 13-5 conf.) have dropped two straight contests. After putting an end to their five-game winning streak with a shocking 99-91 home defeat against UC San Diego, the Anteaters lost at Hawaii 72-67 this past Saturday.
Junior guard Dawson Baker notched 33 points against UC San Diego, but the Anteaters still failed to satisfy the odds as heavy 13-point favorites. They were listed as 2-point road dogs in Honolulu, and fellow junior guard DJ Davis led the way with 27 points. The Anteaters made just 39.4% of their field goals against the Rainbow Warriors’ stout defense.
