UAB vs. Rice Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 1-28-2023

Once Upon A Time In Las Vegas – Championship Sunday

We have a Conference USA NCAA Men’s Basketball game on Saturday afternoon between the UAB Blazers and the Rice Owls taking place at Tudor Fieldhouse. The Blazers are 14-7 (5-5) so far and are coming off a 65-59 home win on Thursday against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. The Owls are 15-5 (6-3) up to this point and are riding a four-game winning streak after a 65-63 home win on Thursday against the Charlotte 49ers. These teams will play again on February 23 so this should be interesting here.

The UAB Blazers have been doing a good job offensively this season as they are averaging 82.6 points while shooting a solid 45.3 percent from the field. They have been passing the ball well this season with 15.4 assists per game so far. Senior guard Jordan Walker has led the way for UAB as he is averaging 23.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.3 steals, and three turnovers in 33.3 minutes per game.

Their defense has to improve on this side of the floor as they are allowing 73.1 points per game up to this point. However, they are not forcing mistakes enough as they are averaging 2.4 blocks and 6.2 steals per game right now. If they can figure out how to defend better, they can have a shot to win this game.
