Conference USA foes UAB and North Texas will meet for the fourth time this season when they square off in the NIT Championship on Thursday night. North Texas held Wisconsin scoreless for more than nine minutes down the stretch in its semifinal game.

UAB was red-hot down the stretch of the regular season, winning 10 of its final 11 games heading into the Conference USA Tournament. The Blazers beat Rice and North Texas to get to the conference title game, but they fell to FAU in a 78-56 final. That loss obviously doesn’t look as bad now that the Owls have made their run to the Final Four. UAB bounced back in the NIT with a trio of wins over Southern Miss, Morehead State and Vanderbilt to punch their ticket to Las Vegas. The Blazers advanced to the title game with a thrilling win over Utah Valley, beating the Wolverines in overtime in the semifinals.

They rank tenth nationally in scoring, averaging 81.1 points per game. Ty Brewer, who averages 8.0 points per game, scored a career-high 30 points on 13 of 17 shooting. He had a team-high 12 rebounds and five steals. Jordan Walker is one of the top mid-major scorers in college basketball, averaging a team-high 22.3 points per game. He leads an offense that ranks tenth nationally in offensive rebounding percentage and shoots 35.7% from beyond the arc. They are going to be tested by a North Texas defense that ranks seventh in college basketball in defensive field goal percentage and first in points allowed per game.
