Tulane will meet with East Carolina for the first of two matchups between the teams this week when they square off on Wednesday night. The Green Wave and Pirates were originally scheduled to meet on Feb. 11, but that game was postponed. Tulane is sitting in third place in the American Athletic Conference standings, while East Carolina is in ninth place.
Tulane got off to a slow start this season when it went 7-5 through its first 12 games. The Green Wave won 10 of their next 12 games though, with their two losses coming against No. 1 Houston and to Tulsa in overtime. They bounced back from those losses with a five-game winning streak, beating Memphis and Cincinnati in overtime during that stretch. Tulane’s hot streak came to a crashing halt when it was blown out by Houston in an 89-59 final last Wednesday. The Green Wave were unable to get back on track on Sunday, losing to Wichita State by seven points as a 6-point home favorite.

They are one game back of Memphis for second place in the conference, but they are two games ahead of Cincinnati and Temple for third place. Tulane has relied on its offense to win games this season, ranked No. 70 in KenPom’s adjusted efficiency ratings. The Green Wave rank inside the top 15 nationally in turnover rate and are shooting nearly 80% from the charity stripe. They have been terrible on the offensive glass though, ranked No. 361 in offensive rebounding percentage. Tulane is facing an East Carolina defense that is No. 122 in effective field goal percentage. Sophomore guard Jalen Cook leads Tulane with 20.7 points, 5.0 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game. Junior guard Jaylen Forbes is scoring 18.5 points, while junior forward Kevin Cross is adding 14.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists.
