The Troy Trojans(9-2, 6-1 in Sun Belt) are set to face the struggling Southern Miss Golden Eagles (3-8, 2-5). This face-off at M. M. Roberts Stadium on November 25, 2023, promises a clash of contrasting fortunes. With Troy favored by 16.5 points and an over/under of 47.5, this game is more than just numbers; it's a testament to resilience and strategy.

The Troy Trojans, with their 9-2 overall record, have cemented themselves as a powerhouse in the Sun Belt Conference. Their offense, averaging 422.5 total yards per game (sixth in conference), is a harmonious blend of aerial and ground attacks. Quarterback Gunnar Watson has been the linchpin of this unit, amassing 2,858 passing yards with an impressive 24 touchdowns to four interceptions. His proficiency in finding receivers downfield has been a critical element in Troy's offensive strategy. Watson’s favorite target, wide receiver Jabre Barber, has chalked up 774 receiving yards and five touchdowns, highlighting their dynamic passing game.

On the ground, the Trojans are spearheaded by running back Kimani Vidal, who has bulldozed his wa y to 1,280 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns. This balanced attack has given Troy a multifaceted edge, allowing them to adapt and exploit various defensive weaknesses. Their offensive line deserves credit for providing Watson ample protection, evidenced by a relatively low number of sacks allowed, which has been crucial in maintaining their offensive momentum. In their last outing against ULL, the Trojans emerged victorious with a 31-24 score, demonstrating their resilience and capability to perform under pressure.

Defensively, Troy is just as impressive. Allowing only 301.5 yards per game (1st in conference), a testament to their defensive coordination and execution. They’ve been particularly effective against the run, conceding just 97.4 rushing yards per game (second). This stout defense, coupled with an offense that scores an average of 29.2 points per game while allowing o nly 16.6 points (9th nationally), makes them a formidable opponent. However, they will be without Jordan Ingram (RB) due to a knee injury and Reggie Bracy (S), who is out indefinitely, posing a challenge to their depth and adaptability.
