Towson vs. Charleston Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 3-6-2023

Both the Towson Tigers (21-11, 17-15-0 ATS, 12-6 CAA) and Charleston Cougars (29-3, 18-12-1 ATS, 16-2 CAA) clobbered their last opponents and move one step closer to the CAA Tournament championship. Charleston swept the season series, but Towson beat the spread in both matchups. The Tigers were one of the Cougars' toughest challenges in the CAA this season, and they'll get a last crack to finally pull off the upset. At 8:30 p.m. EST, these teams will tip off and duke it out. Like the rest of the CAA Tournament, this game is taking place in Washington D.C.'s Entertainment & Sports Arena.

2023 is the year of the rabbit, but 2022 is when the season began. Guess which animal that year belonged to.

Towson's lead at halftime was 26 points, and they maintained it throughout the second half of their 86-60 win. Outside of turnovers, which is a nitpick, there shouldn't be concerns about Towson's performance based on Sunday night. Nicolas Timberlake had a fine night, leading the team with 19 points and nine rebounds.

The Tigers are 139th in KenPom's updated ratings. On neutral floors, they went 3-2 this season. They took Charleston to overtime in one game, losing by two, and lost the other in South Carolina by eight despite leading most of the second half.

Although they were off against the Blue Hens, Towson is lethal from downtown. They were a top 50 team nationally this season, draining 37.2% of their triples. As a team, they shot 44.4% from the floor this season.

On defense, the Tigers held foes to 42.3% from the field, the second-best mark in the CAA. They also finished with the second-highest rebounding margin per game at +5.7. The three-point line is their greatest weakness, as they allow opponents to hit 34.2%.
