It’s an Atlantic Division clash on the hardwood as a pair of teams looking to gain ground in the playoff ladder take the floor in the Big Apple. The Toronto Raptors are on the road as they make the trip to face the New York Knicks Monday night. Toronto comes in off a 119-116 road loss to Charlotte in their previous contest Friday night, losing outright as a 5.5-point favorite. New York was outgunned 133-123 on the road by Boston in their previous game Friday night, failing to cover the line as a 7.5-point underdog. In the all-time regular season series between the teams, the Raptors own a 61-46 advantage but the Knicks took the first meeting 119-106 on the road on December 1.

Toronto comes into this game losers of three straight and five of their last six games as they were dropped on the road by the Hornets Friday night. The Raptors enter Monday 9-13 and in the basement of the Atlantic Division, 7.5 games behind the Celtics for the top spot. They stood 11th in the Eastern Conference standings, four games behind Cleveland for the final guaranteed playoff spot and half a game behind the Hawks for the final spot in the play-in tournament. Against Charlotte, Toronto trailed by 13 after the opening quarter, by as many as 20 in the second quarter, by 12 at the half and by 13 after three quarters. The Raptors staged a rally, leading by four with 5:15 to play but couldn’t hang on as Charlotte regrouped to get the win. Toronto shot 50.5% from the field, including six of 32 from three-point range, and controlled the glass 42-31 though they allowed the Hornets to shoot 55.7% in the game. Scottie Barnes l ed the Raptors with 31 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in the loss.

This season, Toronto stands 23rd in scoring offense as they put up an average of 111 points per game on the season. The Raptors are 7th in rebounding with 45.9 boards a night while they are 4th by dishing out an average of 28.3 assists a night. Toronto stands 15th in scoring defense as they allow an average of 112.8 points a night this season. Scottie Barnes is second on Toronto this season as he puts up an average of 19.8 points, 9.2 rebounds and 5.6 assists for the Raptors. O.G. Anunoby (14.8 points, 4.3 rebounds), Pascal Siakam (20.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, five assists), Dennis Schroder (15.1 points, 6.8 assists) and Gary Trent Jr. (10.6 points) are each averaging in double figures. Toronto looks to Jakob Poeltl (10.8 points, 8.4 rebounds), Precious Achiuwa, Chris Boucher, Malachi Flynn, Otto Porter Jr., Gradey Dick, Garrett T emple and Jalen McDaniels to provide some sort of secondary scoring punch. The Raptors are 22nd in the league in field goal percentage as they shoot 46.3% from the floor as a team. Toronto stands 26th by knocking down 11 three-pointers a night while they are 30th in three-point field goal percentage as they sink 33.2% of their attempts on the season.

Koloko (respiratory) has been out since the beginning of October and has no timetable for return at this point. Porter Jr. (foot) is questionable after he left Friday’s game early.
