VanVleet hit two three-pointers in overtime and finished with 25 points to help lead Toronto to victory. The Raptors had a solid day shooting, hitting 52.2% of their shots, including 12-30 from three-point range. Gary Trent came off the bench to lead the team with 26 points, hitting 11 of 18 shots. Washington held a four-point lead at the end of the first quarter, but Toronto battled back to tie the score before the half. The Raptors then jumped out to a seven point lead in the third quarter, only to see Washington battle back to tie the score late, forcing overtime. That is where the Raptors outscored the Wizards, 11-4.
Toronto is a solid defensive team, allowing 112.0 points per game, seventh overall. However, opponents are having success against them, hitting 49.0% of their shots (28th) and 37.7% of three-point attempts (29th).
