The Toronto Maple Leafs are on the road as they make the trip to face the St. Louis Blues Tuesday night. Toronto comes in off a 4-3 home victory over Philadelphia in their previous contest Thursday afternoon. St. Louis was upended 5-4 in a shootout on the road by Vegas in their most recent game Friday night. In the last 10 meetings, the Blues have won eight of those contests, including a 6-3 road victory in the most recent meeting back on February 19, 2022.

Toronto won their second straight game and improved to 14-2-3 in their last 19 games as they held off Philadelphia at home Thursday night. The Maple Leafs head into this game 21-7-6 on the season, leaving them second in the Atlantic Division, eight points behind the Bruins for the top spot. Toronto stands tied for 12th in the league in goals for as they average 3.26 goals per contest. The Maple Leafs are 2nd in goals against by allowing 2.38 goals a night. Toronto stands 10th in the league in power play success as they convert 23.9% of their chances with the man advantage this season. The Maple Leafs are tied for 14th in the league in penalty killing as they successfully navigate 79.8% of their shorthanded situations on the year.

Against Philadelphia, Toronto was stonewalled early but when their offense started clicking, they build a lead and made it stand up to earn the victory. The Maple Leafs held a solid 11-3 advantage in shots on goal in the opening period but they went to the dressing room trailing 1-0 after 20 minutes of play. In the second period, Toronto held a 15-5 advantage in shots on goal and outscored Philadelphia 2-0 to take a 2-1 lead at the second intermission. Calle Jarnkrok knotted the game with his sixth goal of the season at 16:50 off assists from Mitch Marner and Pierre Engvall. Marner gave the Maple Leafs a 2-1 lead with a power play goal, his 13th of the season, at 19:23 off assists from John Tavares and William Nylander. The third period saw Toronto outshot by an 11-8 margin with both teams scoring twice, leaving the hosts ahead at the final horn. Toronto took a 3-1 lead when Michael Bunting tallied his ninth goal of the season 33 seconds into the period off assists from Auston Matthews and Nylander. Nylander made it a 4-1 game with his 20th goal of the season at 11:39 with assists going to Mark Giordano and Justin Holl. Philadelphia scored twice to make it a one-goal game but the Maple Leafs didn’t allow the equalizer to earn the win. Ilya Samsonov made 16 saves for Toronto, who held a 34-19 edge in shots on goal, in the win. Matt Murray is expected to get the start between the pipes in this game.
