The Toronto Blue Jays are trying to make their push in the American League playoff picture as well as the American League East Division. The Blue Jays are now third in the division and just behind the Rays and Orioles who are battling it out this weekend in a four-game series. The Blue Jays started their push on Friday afternoon by acquiring left-handed reliever Genesis Cabrera from the Cardinals for a minor leaguer. On Friday night, the Blue Jays blew a 2-0 lead as they allowed single runs in the 7th, 8th, and 9th innings in a 3-2 loss. In game two on Saturday, the Blue Jays blew another lead and fell 9-8 to the Mariners. Toronto led 7-4 before letting the Mariners come all the way back to take a 9-7 lead after seven innings. Toronto was only able to tack on one more run to lose its second straight in Seattle.

The Blue Jays will turn to struggling righty Alek Manoah in the final game of this series. Manoah struggled through much of the first half of the season before being sent to the minors to work on his mechanics. Manoah is 2-8 in 15 starts including three quality starts. He has allowed 76 hits in 67 innings pitched with an ERA of 6.18. He has a K/9 rate of 7.5 and a WHIP of 1.84. On the road, Manoah has been much better with a record of 2-3 and an ERA of 3.75 in seven starts including three quality starts. His WHIP lowers to 1.36 while his K/9 rate moves up to 7.8. Manoah struggled with his command again in his last outing against the Padres after not walking a batter in his return from the minor leagues. He lasted just three innings and allowed three hits and four runs while walking five batters.
