Kansas City dropped their third straight and their seventh in the last 10 games as they were blanked by the Twins in the finale of a three-game set Wednesday night. The Royals entered Thursday 25-62 and were in the basement of the AL Central, 19.5 games behind the Twins for the top spot in the division. On Wednesday night, the Royals were held to four hits in the game as MJ Melendez and Kyle Isbel each doubled while Maikel Garcia along with Drew Waters singled in the contest. Kansas City went zero for two with runners in scoring position in the contest and left three runners on base. Alec Marsh (0-2) took the loss as he threw five innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits with three walks and five strikeouts.

Daniel Lynch is on the mound for the Royals as he makes his eighth start of the season in this contest. He comes in 2-3 with a 4.14 ERA, a 1.234 WHIP, 13 walks and 28 strikeouts o ver 41.1 innings of work on the year. Lynch earned the win in his last start, which came Saturday at home against the Dodgers.
