Toledo, who opened the season with two-straight home games, will face a major step-up in competition when they battle the Buckeyes in the Horseshoe. The Toledo Rockets are 2-0 following two-straight home wins over LIU and UMass by a combined score of 92-10. On Saturday, the Rockets jumped out to a 28-7 halftime lead and rolled to an easy 55-10 win in front of a full-house at the Glass Bowl in the Hall of Fame Game.

“I'm obviously very pleased with our team tonight,” Head Coach Jason Candle said. “I think it was a strong performance in all three phases of the game. I thought there was great energy in the stadium and we had a great crowd tonight. This is exactly what I wanted to happen after what I thought was a really good week of practice. We have a massive test in front of us next week and we'll have to replicate that, but I'm happy with our football team tonight.”

Toledo quarterback Dequan Finn finished the day 12-of-26 for 177 yards while throwing for one touchdown and running for two more scores. Finn also led the team in rus hing with 74 yards on the ground. Running back Peny Boone also chipped in with two short rushing touchdowns to help the Rockets build their sizable lead. Toledo led the total yardage battle with 411 total yards compared with 253 for UMass. They had 27 first downs and were an efficient 5-of-11 on third down conversions.

Toledo's defense has risen to the occasion in each of the first two weeks of the season. They pitched a shutout in the opener and followed that up by allowing 10 points to UMass on Saturday. Three different Rockets registered nine tackles in the game: linebackers Dallas Gant, Rourke Freeburg an Jamal Hines. The Rockets had four tackles for loss in the game and one fumble recovery.

In two games, the Rockets have dominated nearly every major statistical category. The Rockets have 848 yards of total offense compared with just 366 for the opposition. The Rockets have been particularly effective on the ground, rushing for 460 yards and eight touchdowns in two games.
