The Toledo Rockets come in off of two straight wins and have wins in seven out of their first ten games this season. Toledo has three more non-conference games, including this one, before they kick off MAC play this season. In their last game, the Rockets improved to 4-0 at home this season with a 69-68 win over Canisius. RayJ Dennis was the story for Toledo. He scored a career-high 29 points, including the team's final 16 points of the game. Dennis also grabbed a team-high nine rebounds and handed out a game-high six assists. Dennis was supported by teammate JT Shumate, who scored 20 points before fouling out with under three minutes to go in the game. Despite the win, Toledo had a season-low of 69 points and shot a season-low 38.9% from the field. The Rockets did hold Canisius to just 37.7% shooting overall.

“We needed to find a way to grind out a win and today we did,” Head Coach Tod Kowalczyk said. “We didn&#3 9;t make shots and didn't make our free throws like we usually do, but we guarded. Canisius has three really good guards, and they are a far better team than their record shows.”

Toledo returns to action after week off for school finals as the first semester comes to a close. The rested Rockets come in averaging 83.3 points per game and are shooting 47.6% from the field overall. Toledo is shooting 36.5% from 3pt range and averaging 7.7 3pt field goals per game. The Rockets are susceptible to the 3pt shot as well, giving up eight 3pt shots per game and allowing teams to shoot 36% from long range. Toledo is also careless with the basketball, forcing under 12 turnovers per game but committing over 15 per game.
